"Mock Disaster" Hurricane Peggy
To Hit Universal Studios

The
City of Orlando will host the 8th Annual CERT (Community Emergency
Response Teams) Mock Disaster at Universal Studios Florida
on May 9th.
This staging of this year's disaster, Hurricane Peggy, will
begin at 6PM in the soundstages and in the streets of Universal
Studios. CERT teams will respond to the mock hurricane to
experience first hand, the excitement and tensions felt in
a crisis situation.
Team Preparation begins; the hurricane will hit at 7:30 PM.
Interview opportunities are available with hurricane victims,
make-up artists and CERT team members. Central Florida Search
and Rescue dogs will also give a demonstration on how they
find victims in debris.
CERT
team members are trained as first responders to provide help
to local ublic safety during a disaster situation.
The Orlando Fire Department has specially trained area citizens
in storm preparations, disaster medical operations, emergency
management, fire suppression and safe search and rescue techniques
in an effort to provide care for themselves and others until
help arrives.
